What I am about
Within our inner selves, collective daily discourses coexist with the unique records engraved upon the trajectories of our individual lives. These records embrace the textures of place and time, harboring fleeting images and raw, unrefined senses that dwell within those spaces.
I believe that the essence of our lives is vividly revealed in moments that may seem unremarkable. The scenes repeatedly encountered in daily life and the emotions permeated within them serve, in themselves, as vital narratives for capturing the identity of contemporary Korea.
My work begins with these stories we wish to cherish and share. Rather than limiting myself to a specific genre or medium, I ask what form can most holistically encapsulate that narrative. While the resulting forms—furniture, objects, spaces, or images—vary, the essence of my work always lies in designing experience and meaning.
Just as a single dish in the world of gastronomy evokes reflections alongside memories of taste, I hope my work is naturally sensed within the user’s daily life. To capture the scenes we mindlessly let slip by and preserve them in a form that allows one to linger—to encounter a sudden afterimage of that sensation in the midst of the mundane—that is the design I aspire to.
